We’re thrilled to announce the release of our new animation video for WiLiman-ID project!

WiLiMan-ID addresses the critical nexus of infectious disease transmission between animals, particularly wildlife, and humans, with approximately 75% of emerging or known infectious diseases originating from animals. Focused on five high-priority animal infectious diseases—Avian Influenza, African Swine Fever, West Nile Virus, African Horse Sickness, and Chronic Wasting Disease—the project aims to unravel the intricate dynamics of host-pathogen interactions. These diseases, two of which cause significant economic losses to farming systems and three posing threats to human health, underscore the urgent need for comprehensive surveillance and control strategies.

WiLiMan-ID integrates multi-scale data, encompassing pathogen, host, and environmental factors, to delineate key drivers influencing disease dissemination and persistence in ever-changing environments. That integrated data will equip policy makers with innovative tools and strategies to mitigate the impact of infectious diseases on global food security, economic stability, and public health.

The project video, titled “Battling Europe’s Most Dangerous Infectious Diseases”, showcases just that: From understanding how these diseases spread to the innovative strategies being developed to contain them, learn how science is our best ally in the fight against these invisible threats.
